This writing was about the book "Satanic Verses" and the controversy it caused although it was a fictional book. Satanic Verses was written by Salman Rushdie. Salman was born as a muslim in India but then later moved to the United Kingdom as an adult. Although "Satanic Verses" was a fictional book, it caused quite a controversy among the Muslim community. Because of this, the book was forced to be taken off of shelves and Salman ended up going into hiding because he feared for his life. I personally am blown away that someone can take such offense to a fictional story. Although I say this, I am not muslim so I can't see it from their perspective. This made me wonder what other books are banned. I know there is a list of banned readings and just by finding out that they are banned, it makes me want to read them.
