In this writing, Nona discusses how society affects the art world. Society defines what good art is which sometimes limits people to trying to mimic this type of work. As much as I would like to say that this is non sense, I sort of agree with it. I feel like if you weren't working somewhat within what is "good", your work would have to be outstanding to get noticed.
Rajagopal
Rajagopal speaks about Western Art's influence on what is considered art. Western art has separated itself from religion while most of the other cultures have not. To some cultures, religion is a huge part of there art.
Lippard
Lippard defines what an "outsider" to the art world is and explains how they shouldn't be looked down upon by the art world. I agree with this writing. Most of the public is not involved in the general art world, therefore they should not be compared to the general art world.
Oguibe
In "Double Dutch and the Culture Game", Oguibe talks about how artists struggle to become successful in the art world because of there cultural background. He describe the cultural game as when artists whose work are very cultural try to make there art more westernized. Sometimes this can be very successful for the artist if done properly.
