3/17

I agree with David Banner's quote "hip-hop is sick because America is sick", but only to a certain extent. First off, I don't want to categorize all hip hop and say that they all have a negative message because that is false. That being said, there is also a large amount of artists who are giving off a negative message through there lyrics. The lyrics don't have a great affect on people who are older but I feel that they can have an affect on younger children. Many of these artists producing these songs are some of the most popular artists at the time. Because of this, it is without doubt that the youth will be exposed to some of it. There is not much you can do though. Censoring hip-hop would not work out well, nor would I support it. The music industry should be treated the same way as the movie industry.

Questions:

1. Has there ever been an attempted censorship on rock and roll? I learned earlier today about a performance ban on some of the "british invasion" in the 60's. I guess that would be the same thing.
